Job Description
Based in Whitstable, Kent and established for 25 years, my client is a global organisation with a local network of representatives serving their customers in over 50 countries throughout North and South America, Europe, Oceania, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

The Role
Responsible for the on-going management of day-to-day engineering and technical activities within the company. Plan and manage the companyβs research and design projects ensuring timely and on-budget delivery of all technical and engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
’ Manage all engineering and technical projects to completion.
’ Track all engineering / project costs throughout project lifecycle.
’ To maintain an active overview and involvement with product development projects including new product specification and performance validation.
Process Management
’ Ensure engineering / technical / R&D processes are accurate, efficient and streamlined.
’ Work closely with the companyβs ISO representative to devise and deliver process improvements for all technical functions within the company.
Team Management
Regulatory / Homologation
’ Hold a critical awareness of appropriate industry regulations (ISO10542, EU Regulations).
’ To represent the company at British Standards Institute and International Standards Organisation meetings.
Technical
’ Manage technical drawing production and maintenance process.
’ Assist the customer services department in responding to any technical enquiries that arise.
’ Responsible for the production of new technical drawings to support manufacture and the potential of new business.
’ Work closely with the US office to deliver joint resourced projects.
Quality Control and Product Testing
’ Coordinate and arrange crash tests on various products followed by further investigation on success or failure of the test.
’ Assist with locating relevant test reports required by customers.
’ Coordinate Internal testing activities to ensure that all products (and product components) undergo stringent testing and quality assurance.
’ To attend to matters regarding the performance of equipment in service through warranty claims and post sales surveillance.
’ Record and report any problems relating to QMS.
’ To support the Quality Systems Manager with all relevant engineering aspects of ISO 9001 registration problems relating to QMS.
Minimum Requirements
’ Technical or engineering degree or equivalent.
’ Detailed experience of Q.A. management & processes management.
’ Have a proven track record of managing a technical/engineering function, implementing, developing and managing best practice.
’ Experience of managing design-to-production processes within a regulatory controlled environment.
’ Coordinating third party suppliers and ensuring that they meet our quality control prerequisites through SLA management.
’ experience of working within a project environment.
’ Experience of tracking engineering / project costs.
Preferred Requirements
’ Experience of managing a service team / department.
’ Knowledge of the vehicle safety or automotive industries would be a distinct advantage.
’ Experience of vehicle homologation requirements and processes
’ To be able to translate legislation into core design and production values
’ Foreign Language Skills
